April 18, 2011 was THE crochet event of the year! The 3rd Annual Crochet Awards (The Flamies) started off with a bang on both the Getting Loopy Podcast, hosted by Mary Beth Temple in New York, and for the first time a live red carpet party was happening in Georgetown, Texas with “Fearless Leader” Laurie Wheeler!
What an evening! My apologies for socializing when I should have been podcasting! Talk about an evening of multi-tasking!
We had guests fly in from Washington State, North Carolina, and folks drive in from around Texas, and the local Georgetown crochet and knit crowd did themselves proud. It was a packed room! We created magic wands for Annie’s Gifts for Chemo (I’ll do a story just on those), and of course at any CLF event there are goodies and prizes! Not bad for an idea I whimiscally came up with all of a month ahead of the event! Next year? It’s gonna be magic!
I sat on the balcony of the Landmark podcasting, enjoying the warm Texas evening, while the revelers partied the evening away! Couldn’t stop their cheers for our Flaming Hook of Justice Award winner though, it was deafing! I still have video to edit, and that my friends will happen later. Today, this blog post is all the work I am going to do. My schedule includes a walk to the square in Georgetown, a nibble at the wonderful Cafe “Laurie’s” (gotta eat at a place that shares your name, it’s a rule) and then I’m going to sit and crochet with the wonderful people at The Needlearts of Georgetown!
Later at some undisclosed time and date I will have video and photos up of the Red Carpet party.
Want to know who won? Have I teased you long enough?
