| Carol Alexander |
Carol Alexander is currently the executive editor for crochet with DRG Publishing. She is the editor of Crochet! and Crochet World magazines, and has edited dozens of crochet pattern and hardcover books for the company. She is also a past Board member and officer of the Crochet Guild of America. As an editor, Carol passionately believes in fostering the talents of new designers. She feels it is vital to the continued success of the crochet industry to offer new opportunities to up-and-coming designers to help them build their designing skills, boost their confidence and gain recognition in the industry. Before joining DRG as a crochet editor in 2002, Carol worked for 15 years as a professional crochet designer, author and self-publisher. She was extremely fortunate in her career to have hundreds of her original designs published by most of the leading crochet and needlecraft publications as well as by various yarn companies. A number of her designs were featured on several top craft cable networks, including HGTV and DIY. In 1995, she was the first designer selected to be a member of the elite Monsanto Designs for America crochet and knit design program. Before answering to what she considers her true professional calling in the field of crochet design and development, Carol worked in business, first as a reservationist for Delta Airlines, then as an executive in office and financial management with several other companies.Carol lives in Berne, Indiana with her family and a happy menagerie of several cats, all of whom were adopted from shelters or rescued from the streets. |
| Marty Miller |
Marty has been crocheting and designing since she was 5 years old, when her grandmother taught her. After many years of designing and selling her line of crocheted puppets at craft fairs, she started teaching crochet classes11 years ago, and began having her designs published by yarn companies and in books and magazines. At the same time, she became involved with The Crochet Guild of America, volunteering first as the Mentor Coordinator, then the Professional Development Chair. Four years ago, she was elected to the Board of Directors, became Vice-President, and recently finished her term as President. Along the way, she became a tech editor, and an editor. She teaches at yarn shops, and nationally at the Chain Link Conferences and at TNNA trade shows. She has her own pattern line, writes articles about crochet for various magazines and publications, will be having 2 books coming out this year, and thinks that a day without crochet is a day without sunshine. Her two blogs are: http://notyourgrannyscrochet-marty.blogspot.com http://thecrochetdoctor.blogspot.com |
