Whittle Your Own Crochet Hook Hook whittling 101: In three fun packed hours you'll end up with a hook whittled yourself to fit your hand like a glove. Got a special tree you'd like a hook from? Bring along a dead, dry branch (1" or less in diameter and 9" or so long and we'll see if it's interested in becoming a hook (K or bigger)... or make your hook from wood that will be supplied. We'll start with a little get-to-know-you with the tools we'll be using, learn a bit about the wood to use, a little about carving in general, a smidge about finishing, and we'll start whittling! Materials: Bring your own SHARP carving knife if you like, or one will be provided, along with the wood, sandpaper, finishing materials for a paltry materials fee of $7 to be paid at time of class. " Needle Makeover" ~ Turn bamboo needles into useful crochet hooks To those who admit to owning those dangerous pointy sticks; here's a chance to convert them into something useful. Bring along your bamboo knitting needles in sizes that you'd like for tunisian or bullion hooks. You'll learn how to rescue them to the wonders of crochet! This will be a 1+ hour class (whatever it takes) with Jimbo and you'll learn how to liberate those sad little bamboo needles (size 8 and bigger) from their pointy confines into to Hooky greatness. Bring your own bamboo knitting needle for liberation. All other materials will be provided for a materials fee of $7. We may only have time to do one conversion but you'll leave with knowledge of how to convert ALL pointy wooden sticks to hooks. We'll be doing a bit of whittling in this class too, so if you'd like to bring your favorite SHARP woodcarving knife, that'd be just peachy, otherwise one will be provided for your use.
