Light Up Crocheted Hat!

It was as close as we could get to him NOT making silly faces for the photo!

My daughter’s boyfriend is a science geek and proud of it! We’re proud of him, too! Dylan loves to make things that move and light up, he’s a wiz at electrical gadgets and is a bit of a mad scientist. So, for his Christmas present I decided to make him a light up hat. His favorite color is purple, so I crocheted him a purple pseudo-newsboy cap and wove in battery operated Christmas lights.

He loves the hat! YAY! I am sure at some point the lights will be cannibalized to be used in some other gadgetry, but that’s all good. It was a fun project. I used Plymouth Gallway for the majority of the hat, there’s just one round of glow in the dark yarn that I have hoarded in my stash.

Thanks for the great post. Im a beginning crocheter, and I’ve found I’ve settled into a loose hand with it. It’s extra challenging for me to do amigurumi, but luckily, I prefer to make garments.
