Crocheting in the ‘Garden State’…

Greetings from South Jersey!

My “real name” is Heather, but I go with ‘Cupcake’ as my pen name.  I am a wife, momma to 5 and a full time EMT.  I will be sticking my head into the CLF blog from time to time with crochet patterns, pictures and ideas.   I also knit, sewing, quilt and have a small hobby farmette with 10 chickens, 2 horses, 2 dogs and 2 cats.

I learned to crochet from my mom when I was about 12 years old.  I was a bit energetic (not knowing back then it was ADD) and bored, so my mom handed me a light blue size ‘K’ crochet hook and some squeaky acrylic yarn from Sears…and a yarn addiction was born!

My favorite thing to crochet is food toys;  my youngest daughter has a growing crocheted kitchen set of vegetables, cups, plates and the like all made out of yarn.  I honestly don’t like to crochet afghans; after awhile they become too heavy and non-portable for me.  My favorite yarn is a toss up;  it’s either Bartlett Homespun or Plymouth Galway.  I find I prefer my good ol’ set of plastic crochet hooks for most of my projects.

Currently on my hook is a sweater pattern for my 5 year old daughter in Red Heart pink acrylic…pics to come soon, I promise!

Looking forward to seeing all of your projects and hearing about them!

Cupcake :)
